iPad 3 Announcement this week?

by useyouriPad on March 5, 2012

A long awaited announcement was confirmed: The Loop reports that Apple today sent out invitations for a media event scheduled for this week Wednesday, March 7. The event will be held at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco and is scheduled to begin at 10:00 AM Pacific / 1:00 PM Eastern. The tagline on the invitation –  “We have something you really have to see. And touch.”

The most likely feature for Apple’s iPad 3 is a new Retina Display, that may provide  a screen with double the resolution of the iPad 2. This may be 2048 pixels by 1536 pixels. 4G LTE connectivity is also rumored to be announced. These and maybe a new processor may actually result in a slightly thicker frame than that of the iPad 2. For a processor, Apple watchers expect to see either a quad core A6 processor or a dual core A5X inside the iPad 3.

It is expected that sales will come closely after the introduction. I will caution you that people are still waiting for the new iPad after last Octobers announcements that all the rumors had launching a new iPad 3 then. It does seem like the timing and production rumors are pointing to the iPad 3 being available soon.

If you want a bargain get the iPad 2 during the transition.  I would say that it would still be worth it as a business tool. The new features will not change your experience much EXCEPT for the 4G LTE. Contact us with questions.
